Playing with Gear
|
I just fell into playing semi-seriously a couple of years ago. Before that it was high school bands (I even got a grade 12 credit for that, but those were the glorious early 70's) and then occasional folkie strumming when the lights were low and the bottles full. That all changed when I was invited to join Spontaneous Combustion and began, for the first time in my life, to actually practice. With the music came the desire to amass a collection of toys to tweak the sounds of my instruments. Being rather income deficient this became mostly a DIY excercise as I tried to turn broken bits and pawn shop jewels into something usable. I quickly learned that there is no excuse for half steps - good sound costs real money. However, some of the things I have made I still use, and I play all of my collection of half-junk guitars. Maybe there is something here to inspire or interest someone else. Peter |
